I'm kinda on a swing kick right now so anything by big bad voodoo daddy is one of my suggestions...I really like the "Save my soul" album.
Um kind of a unique sound, it's like a blend between scat style jazz and punk rock the band is called That Handsome Devil, and the album "A city dressed in dynamite" is really cool, not the first listen love it kind of thing but it grows on ya.
I always say listen to some Pink Floyd, lately I've been listening to Roger Water's solo album "The Final Cut" which has a really emotional feel to it. There's on part that is really cool where he screams a high note and it harmonizes with a sax that brings the note out for quite a while.
If you like The Doors then their final album that came out after Jim died "An American Prayer" is really cool. It isn't singing (for the most part) it's Jim reading his poetry and they added music to it. But it is surprisingly rhythmic and has a mellow feel to it.
A little Beatles never hurt anyone right? I've been listening to "I want you (she's so heavy)" a lot lately, great song.
A weirder one is the band "Cloud Cult" which is like new age the album "Advice from the happy hippopotamus" is strange but can grow on ya
